MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:


 Chair - Aundrea Wright


Members: Vanessa King, Stephania Byrdsong O'Neal, Linda Cooper


Duties: Organize annual membership enrollment.  Work with the Directory Chairman to insure that all DASL members are included in the Directory.


Directory Committee:


Chair-


Members: Gay Patrick, Palimor Bradley, Vickie Johnson, Carla Braxton


Duties: Prepare the directory.  All DISD librarians will be listed in the directory.  Dues paying members will receive the directory.


Finance Committee:

Chair- Caroline Weatherly


Members: Edith Bender

Duties: Meet with Treasurer before the end of September to determine monies available and apportion according to need.  Prepare budget for fiscal year (August-July).


Hospitality Committee:


Chair -Sharanza Williams


Members: Ann Overman, Patsy Hoffman,  Karla Calloway


Duties:  Setup and organize the events of the Association, including refreshments and decorations as determined by the Executive Board.


Courtesy Committee:


Chair - Maria Rodriguez


Members: Michella Chappell


Duties: Send memorial, flowers, or card to a member or member's family depending on circumstance


Communications and Publicity Committee:

Members:


Duties: Publicize the activities of the Association through the DASL website. Send news releases to any appropriate DISD publication.


Nominating Committee:

Chair - Debbie Lipnick


Members: Rosenid Badia

Duties: Committee should seek officers for the next school year according to the guidelines and qualifications set forth in the DASL by-laws.  Election of officers should take place at the final  meeting of the year. 


Political Awareness Committee:

Chair - Hobie Hukill


Duties: Set up and organize political awareness events in cooperation with the President.  Send news information to the Communications and Publicity Chair.  Stay in contact with other professional and political action organizations as appropriate.


Scholarship Committee:

 Chair - Elaine Hudson


Members: Rosenid Badia


Duties:  Study and develop guidelines for nominating and selecting recipients.  Determine scholarship amounts.


Friends of School Libraries Committee:


Chair - Diana O'Connor


Members: Lisa Simmons, Rosenid Badia, Adriana Marroquin, Sandra Cappello


Duties: Find library supporters to serve on a Friend of School Libraries Board.  Serve as an advisory committee to the Friends Board.  Disseminate information to DISD librarians about starting campus Friends groups. Duties may change as objectives are accomplished.



LMS (ad hoc) Committee:


Chair - Gay Patrick

Duties: Support DASL with special projects.


KERA /Community Service Committee:


Chair - Jaime Bennett

Members: Oinette Flake, Ann Overman


Duties: Recruit and coordinate volunteers to work during a pledge drive.

 

Advocacy Committee:

Chair - Susi Grissom

Members:  Hazel Peterson, Caricia Walker, Sandra Cappello, Mary Thweatt, Carla Braxton

Duties:  The Advocacy Committee will communicate with campus librarians concerning ways to highlight and publicize their library program to staff, administration, students, and community.  The committee will work with campus librarians to create ways to quantify and promote the library/ learning connection.
